Expansion of Specialty and Cancer Services at Addison Gilbert

"We have been blessed by Addison Gilbert's wonderful Oncology Department"
   - Sue and Shawn, 8/14/08
Donors to Gorton's Specialty and Cancer Care Center

To enhance our ability to provide progressive, state-of-the-art cancer care to residents of Cape Ann, we are expanding Addison Gilbert Hospital's Cancer Service on the Lundberg Medical Arts Floor.

Representatives from nursing and medical oncology, facilities planning, the foundation, and administration have been working together to ensure that the new space meets the needs of both patients and staff. The renovations are scheduled to be complete in November 2008. We are very proud of our cancer service, which offers a local option to receive cutting-edge cancer treatment protocols in cooperation with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and other Boston hospitals.

This $1.4 million project is being funded by charitable donations from businesses and families on Cape Ann.  If you would like to learn more about the new Center, click here.

VISITING HOURS

Our hours for most patient areas are from 11 am to 8 pm every day. Parents are allowed in Pediatrics at any time. Visiting in the Intensive Care and Critical Care units is limited family members only, 10 minutes per hour.

When visiting a friend or loved one, please limit the number of visitors to two at a time, since too many visitors can tire the patient and disturb others. Please do not plan on visiting if you are sick or have a contagious disease. Also do not bring food, beverages or medications without first checking with a member of the nursing staff.

When visiting a child in the hospital, parents, family members and friends may bring toys and books from home. Before giving items to the child, please check with a member of the nursing staff to ensure that the toy is safe and appropriate for the child.  A favorite toy or book can bring a child great comfort.

Pet visits can be arranged with a physician's permission.  Patients who wish to visit briefly with their cats or dogs may arrange to have the pet brought to the hospital for visiting in a designated non-patient area. To make arrangements, call our Community Relations department at 978 236-1650.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

From Route 128 North
Follow Route 128 North to Gloucester to Grant Circle Rotary, proceed three-quarters of the way around and exit at the Route 127/Annisquam sign. Follow Route 127 (Washington Street) for approximately three-tenths of a mile to the hospital on left.

From Boston and the South Shore
Take Route 3 or the Expressway North to Route 93 North.  Follow to Route 128/95 North (exit 37A in Woburn).  Follow the directions above for Route 128 North to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester.
